About GCTT

GCTT

Grapevine Competitive Target Team (GCTT) is a parent-led 501(c)3  booster club for GCISD students interested in competition shotgun shooting sports.  We are partnered with SSSF, Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation. The SCTP, Scholastic Clay Target Program is a program established by the SSSF.  Our team participates in the Scholastic Clay Target Program(SCTP) and competes against other SCTP teams in the area. Check out our Club, the SCTP program and the SSSF organization with the links below.

GCTT  was formed in 2015 and follows UIL competition  regulations. This   means  our   team    can  only    be comprised    of    GCISD   students    and  students  must   pass  to  play.   However, students  can  letter  in  clay shooting much like other sports.

GCTT begins registration in September of each year.  SCTP competitions begin in November and continue through May with the state tournament in June.  Our team practices twice a week but the days may vary from year to year depending on availability at the practice facility. Currently, we practice at Elm Fork Gun Club.

GCTT is open to 7th through 12th grade students.  All middle school students must be accompanied by a parent at all times during practice and tournaments.

GCTT generally attends one tournament a month.  However, athletes have the opportunity to participate in a number of tournaments on their own through different organizations and regions.

Shotgun, ammunition and tournament fees are the responsibility of the parents.  Tournament fees range from $35 per event to $75.  An estimated 200 shells are needed for tournaments and a minimum of 50 shells for practice. Semi automatic and over/under shotguns in either 12 gage or 20 gage are allowed.

GCTT team fee of $350 covers the cost of practice and SCTP membership dues.  The team provides a team jersey with the optional purchase of a shooting vest at a cost of $75.

Parent  involvement is required for student participation due to strict safety rules established by SSSF.  Up to 2 adults are necessary for every 5 students during practice.  Practices average 20+ students.
